Groups are held on Tuesday nights in Norwood, Delaware County. Support services are also available for parents. Transportation and babysitting are provided.

Description: GACM, a coalition of a dozen churches, runs a food pantry and offers help with rent, utilities, medical needs and the like. The Crisis Ministry staff evaluates the needs of people who come by referral or off the street, and follow-ups on the effect of the aid. GACM provides more than 40 food packages to NW Philadelphia families. In addition, the ministry expects to provide at minimum 100 Thanksgiving baskets to help out its neighbors. GACM depends on donations from individuals to supplement food received from other sources such as The Greater Philadelphia Food Bank and Philadbundance. Wanted non-perishable items particularly protein products such as: canned tuna, chicken, salmon, beef stew, spam, sardines, and hearty soups. GACM provides a complete food package for a family of 3 or 4 to enable them to prepare 3 meals per day for three days.

Description: Governor Edward G. Rendell has presented a comprehensive Stay Warm PA program to make sure Pennsylvania's most vulnerable citizens are warm and protected as cold weather approaches and homeowner energy bills are expected to jump as much as 48 percent.
Under the Governor's Stay Warm PA initiative, with increased state funding and increased support from energy companies and utilities, an additional $30 million will be available to Pennsylvanians this winter for low-income energy assistance.
The Governor's plan includes:
Seeking additional federal LIHEAP money.
Authorizing up to $18 million in state resources, including $15 million for LIHEAP and $3 million for HEMAP.
Asking energy companies to help low-income consumers meet their winter bills.
Creating a partnership with home supply retailers such as Lowe's to help seniors and others winterize.
Marshaling families and friends to help take care of their homes to help lower winter heating bills.
onvening a statewide Stay Warm PA summit on Nov. 1 with volunteers and religious organizations to protect the neediest citizens.
Enabling the Energy Star sales tax holiday.
Reducing the commonwealth's energy use.
Ensuring that poor families have a second chance to make energy payments before utilities are turned off.
Removing hurdles for poor families seeking to reconnect fuel service.

Description: Offering a unique service of emergency financial assistance, clients can apply for grants of $500 to reach a zero balance with their bill. All of UESF's clients must have their service terminated or have notice of shut off status. With UESF's partnership with the three major utility companies, a dollar for dollar match is made to reach the $500 total. Clients are responsible for any arrearage that exists above that total.
