Media, PA – October, 2004…… The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Inc. (DAP) has announced the appointment of JoAnn Massaro, Esquire, Associate Executive Director by Pierce College in Philadelphia to the position of Adjunct Faculty commencing with its fall term. Ms. Massaro has been retained to teach family law in Pierce’s Para Legal Program with a focus upon such topics as: domestic violence, divorce and custody. As Associate Executive Director at DAP, Massaro directs program/direct service operations at DAP including counseling, emergency shelter, legal services, education and outreach, TANF, and Nana’s Attic – DAP’s retail thrift shop located in Broomall in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center. As a member of the senior management team at DAP, Ms. Massaro also assumes a leadership role in the Agency’s contract management and compliance work with key public funding sources. Ms. Massaro also represents DAP clients at Protection from Abuse Court on Thursdays at the Court of Common Pleas in the Media Courthouse where she has earned a reputation as an accomplished and seasoned advocate for victims of domestic violence. Ms. Massaro brings an array of skills and competencies to her new appointment at Pierce College gleaned from her prior professional affiliations. From 1993 – 1996, she served as a consulting attorney and law clerk at the Philadelphia law firm of Herring & Herring; from 1992-1993, as workers compensation manager at Media-based Riddle Memorial Hospital; and for nearly ten (10) years as Owner/Manager of Jam Tech Corporation. Ms. Massaro is a Phi Delta Phi honor graduate of Widener University School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor and an honors graduate of West Chester University where she completed her Bachelor of Science Degree. She is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Associations. The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County is a 29-year old non-profit human service agency providing counseling, advocacy, and legal services including in-court representation and accompaniment, a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter and transitional housing case management for victims of domestic violence in Delaware County. DAP is a long-standing WOMENS WAY and United Way agency.
