The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Inc. (DAP) has announced its slate of new Board Officers and Members to govern the 28-year old human service agency providing a range of services to victims of domestic violence throughout Delaware County.Elections were held at DAP’s Annual Meeting on June 14, 2005 at the Springfield Country Club.
Shelley C. Dugan, Esq., of Media, a member of the Board of Directors since 2001 was elected President.Ms. Dugan also serves as Chair of the Executive Committee.She is an attorney in private practice in Media.
Joan Lynn Huffman, MD, FACS, a member of the Board of Directors since 2003 was elected Vice President and also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board along with the Facilities Management Committee.Dr. Huffman is a board-certified trauma surgeon at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland.
John R. Donaphon, MBA, CPA, of Media, a member of the Board of Directors since 2002, was re-elected to the position of Treasurer and serves as Chair of the Finance Committee.Donaphon is employed by Family & Community Services of Media as the Financial & Administrative Services Director and maintains a private consulting practice.
John W. Ryan, of Chester Heights, a member of the Board of Directors since 2000, was re-elected to the position of Secretary.He also serves as on the Executive Committee and as the Chair of the Nominating Committee.Ryan is a member of the District Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Investigation Unit.
One new Board member was elected to the Board at the June 14th Annual Meeting:Jill Gizzio, Chief Executive Officer/Owner of dogtoys.com & cattoys.com of West Chester.
One long-standing Board member, Francis J. Boyle, of Media retired and was recognized for his 6.5 years of service including as President during the Agency’s 2005 fiscal year.Mr. Boyle also served as Vice President; Chair, Facilities Management; and Co-Chair, Development.
Other DAP Board of Director members include: Kelly D. Colvin, Drexel Hill; Honorable Thomas H. Killion, Glen Mills; Vicki L. Kushto, Esq., Aston; Honorable Jack D. Lippart, Prospect Park; Walter R. Omlor, Jr., Media; Rebecca Davis Prince, Esq., Media; Emily M. Ryan, Esq., Wallingford; Reverend Alphonso Sherold, Chester; John M. Verdi, Springfield; Celestine F. Welcome, Yeadon and Gail DeVecchis Wygant, RN, MS, West Chester.
Rita Buckley Connolly, MA, JD has served as the Executive Director of DAP since 2002.
The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Inc. is a 28 year old non-profit human service agency providing advocacy, counseling, legal services – including in-court representation and accompaniment – a 24 hour hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, medical advocacy and community education and outreach to over 5,000 clients each year.DAP is a United Way
and a WOMENS WAY Agency and the sole provider of domestic violence intervention and prevention services in Delaware County.
