Maternity Care Coalition's Innovative Program Achieves International Exposure
Monday, February 01, 2010
This past December the Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) worked closely with the BBC to bring the story of pregnant incarcerated women to the public's attention. We invite you to see the finished (22 minute) piece, Hard Labour, which was filmed at the Riverside Correctional Facility and features Senator Daylin Leach, Commissioner Louis Giorla, MCC's Danyell Williams and Bette Begleiter, and most importantly four women who experienced incarceration while pregnant. Hard Labour was aired throughout the United Kingdom several times this month. It is a terrific piece and we are so pleased that this important story is getting the attention it deserves. View Hard Labour now http://www.momobile.org/news/HardLabour.html In January, a short version aired in the U.S. on BBC America and National Public Radio:
