WOMEN’S WAY has moved to the Avenue of the Arts! In celebration of our new home, you are invited to join us for an Open House on February 22, 2007 from 5 to 7 pm. We’ll be kicking off our 30th anniversary and unveiling The Many Faces of WOMEN’S WAY, the commissioned exhibit of photographer Harvey Finkle’s images of clients served by WOMEN’S WAY funded agencies.

Pennsylvania: Not Making the Grade
Pennsylvania is among 19 states that received an “Fâ€? on the 2007 Report Card for Women’s Reproductive Rights. NARAL Pro-Choice America released the 16th annual Who Decides? The Status of Women’s Reproductive Rights in the United States, the nation’s most comprehensive report with analysis and tracking of choice-related legislation.

23rd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision that gave women the right to a legal abortion. In a 7-2 decision written by Justice Harry Blackmun, the court found that laws restricting abortion violate a woman’s constitutional right to privacy under the 14th amendment. The anniversary was marked by The National Organization for Women at an annual vigil on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, and a “Blog for Choice Day,“ which encouraged bloggers to express why they are pro-choice.

Another Woman Ivy League President?
According to the Boston Globe, Harvard University is considering two women for its next president. Elena Kagan, Dean of Harvard’s law school, and Drew Gilpin Faust, Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, are reported to be among final choices for the elite position. Harvard has never had a woman president in its 371-year history.
