23rd Anniversary of Roe v. WadeOn January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision that gave women the right to a legal abortion. In a 7-2 decision written by Justice Harry Blackmun, the court found that laws restricting abortion violate a woman’s constitutional right to privacy under the 14th amendment. The anniversary was marked by The National Organization for Women at an annual vigil on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, and a “Blog for Choice Day,“ which encouraged bloggers to express why they are pro-choice. Another Woman Ivy League President?According to the Boston Globe, Harvard University is considering two women for its next president. Elena Kagan, Dean of Harvard’s law school, and Drew Gilpin Faust, Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, are reported to be among final choices for the elite position.
