WOMEN’S WAY’s 33rd Annual Power Voice Awards: Turning Talk into Action is a community-wide call to action, challenging each of us to step up and play a role in shaping a brighter future for women, girls, and their families in the Greater Philadelphia region.

The White House Council on Women & Girls


The White House Council on Women and Girls provides a coordinated federal response to the challenges confronted by women and girls and ensures that all Cabinet and Cabinet-level agencies consider how their policies and programs impact women and families. Prior to her service in the White House, Tchen worked as a partner in a Chicago law firm and was an active supporter of women’s rights, lobbying to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in Illinois and drafting state legislation that expanded the definition of rape to include sexual assault and abuse.

Courtney Schreiber, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Image Coming Soon! Courtney Schreiber graduated form New York University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Schreiber completed fellowship training in Contraception Research and Family Planning in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, where she also obtained her Master of Public Health. As an assistant professor in University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Schreiber has clinical and research expertise in the areas of gynecology, family planning, sexually transmitted infections, and complications of early pregnancy. Dr. Schreiber teaches both residents and medical students, and lectures widely.
Mariana Chilton, PhD, MPH

Witnesses to Hunger
Dr. Mariana Chilton is a leading expert on hunger and poverty in America. She is also a professor of Public Health at Drexel University School of Public Health. She is the Principal Investigator for The Philadelphia GROW Project and Co-Principal Investigator of Children’s HealthWatch. She most recently founded Witnesses to Hunger to increase women’s participation in the national dialogue on hunger and poverty. She has numerous scientific publications, and has secured several large grants for her research, clinical care for children with failure to thrive, and empowerment work with women. Her awards include the Young Professional Award in Maternal and Child Health from the American Public Health Association, the Philadelphia Business Journal “40 under 40” Young Professional Award, and the National Lindback Award for Teaching Excellence. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, public radio and CBS national news.
Beth Warshaw-Duncan

Girls Rock Philly
Beth Warshaw-Duncan is the production coordinator at WXPN-FM, a noncommercial radio station in Philadelphia, where she engineers live sessions with bands, directs live & recorded shows, & edits in soundproof studios all day (and all of the night). She is also a board member of the 215 Festival in Philadelphia, is certified as a secondary-school teacher in Pennsylvania & teaches a Writing For Radio class at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as sound & recording workshops for the Black Lily Film & Music Festival. After volunteering for two years as a counselor & workshop instructor at Willie Mae Rock Camp in New York, Beth founded and is the director of Girls Rock Philly, a rock camp where girls ages 9-17 learn instruments, write songs & form their own bands. Girls Rock Philly held its first camp session in August 2007 & is a founding member of the international Girls Rock Camp Alliance.
